Avian Mystery, 23 September 2010

Hey look! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s…er, actually, it is a bird.

Photo Information:

Camera: Nikon D80
Lens: Nikon Nikkor 80-200mm f/4.5-5.6
ISO Equivalency: 100
Color Setting: Vivid

As per usual with animals / nature, I have no idea what sort of bird this is. Well, I’m fair sure it’s one of those fishing birds, but that doesn’t exactly narrow it down, now does it? Anybody out there know what this is? I don’t even know where to start looking for such information. [1]

Looks nice, though, don’t it? I saw this guy while walking by the Elizabeth River in Norfolk, Virginia. I suspect he was looking for a meal. [2]

[1]: Okay, okay, I do know where to start looking, but y’know. Laziness and such…

[2]: Actually, he was cleaning himself, but that was sporadic, and I’m sure that when he wasn’t picking little bugs and things off of himself, he was wondering where all the tasty fish were hiding.
