Left Behind, 11 January 2011

2011/01/11

And now, since I’m desperately trying to alleviate the headache to which I referred in my previous post, here’s a photo of a wooden stump. Because I really, really don’t feel like thinking much more this evening.

Photo Information:

Location: Norfolk, Virginia; Elizabeth River
Camera: Nikon D80
Lens: Nikon Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 Micro
ISO Equivalency: 100
Color Setting: Vivid (Black & White conversion in post-processing)

I imagine that this stump was once part of a pier along the river; there are many such locations in and around downtown Norfolk.

I used the macro lens with its widest aperture to focus exclusively on the great texture of the old wood, and to throw the rest of the image out of focus. The black and white conversion was pretty straightforward in post-processing. Not much else to say, so enjoy.

Considering this is ‘just’ a stump, it’s a beautiful photograph.
